Data Imports
M&D CARES simplifies the application process, minimizes manual data entry, and maximizes productivity in high volume environments. M&D CARES provides hospitals and clinics with tools that allow them to maintain information required for the procurement or replenishment of medications. These medications are made available by pharmaceutical manufacturers for qualifying patients.

Patient Database
The “Patient” database allows the user to keep an extensive profile of each patient’s demographic, financial, and medication information. This information may be printed in hard copy form, if desired.

Claims Database
The “Claims” database displays claims for a specific patient and allows the user to add, delete, and refill claims for the medication. This database keeps track of the claims submitted for a patient to a pharmaceutical patient assistance program, and shows the status of the claims as whether “Pending” or “Recovered”.

Inventory Database
The “Inventory” database allows the user to receive, dispense and track medications for each patient. This database identifies which medications the patient has in stock or claim pending. A transaction log may be created for each patient.

Clinics and Facilities
M&D CARES can set up multiple facilities within one customer database. This feature allows the user to establish an unlimited number of facilities that share the same patient information while separating the patient claims by facility. This feature allows hospitals containing numerous clinics to generate separate reports to track monetary savings for each facility. In addition a hospital program can be set up to differentiate between certain departments, such as Oncology, Transplant, In-patient, Out-Patient, etc.

Physicians
This database is for physicians involved in the pharmaceutical patient assistance programs. It stores pertinent physician information, such as physician name, facility address, license number, DEA number, etc. When processing a patient assistance application the necessary physician information is transferred to the application.

Program Drug Database
This database contains a listing of medications maintained in the M&D CARES program that are known to have a manufacturer Patient Assistance Program. The medications are listed in alphabetical order. The software only requires the first few letters of the drug name in order to locate the medication. It lists the drug name and NDC number, the manufacturer, type of program available, difficultly rating for filing a claim, and the class of patients to which the program pertains (inpatients, outpatients, or both). Alternative medications can be displayed if a generic or therapeutic equivalent medication is desired.

Reports
The reports feature can be used to track the claims processed by different facilities. Reports can be generated by dates, manufacturer, drug, or user. All reports use a standard Print Preview dialog to display the contents of the reports prior to printing.

Data Imports
Patient Information
M&D CARES can import patient information from facility software systems such as admissions software, billing software or the pharmacy system. The necessary patient data, such as demographic, medical, and financial information is extracted out of the existing database and then imported into the M&D CARES database.

Pharmacy Information
This import is extremely helpful in tracking medications that were dispensed to patients. The facility generates a download on a daily basis showing all medications given to patients the prior day. This download contains the patient's name, medical record number, social security number, the drug description, usage directions, the name of the prescribing physician, and dispensing date. As with other aspects of the M&D CARES program, options for information download are varied and can be customized for each facility through its IT department.
